Self-directed Professional Learning

We’re developing self-directed professional learning resources that can be used by the public and third sectors.

What progress have we made?

This workstream forms part of the Scottish Government Digital Programme and is now in discovery.

We’ve already delivered a proof of concept for self-directed learning Getting Started with Data in partnership with the Digital Office for Scottish Local Government and Perth and Kinross Council. We are continuing to understand user needs and are currently working towards increasing our understanding around the issue.

Purpose

In a time of significant change and digital transformation, the need to design and build effective, efficient and fit for purpose public services has never been greater.

Our self-directed learning service will allow people and teams to be able to access professional learning as and when they require and be able to complete it in their own time and space to help embed agile approaches to product and service design and deliver a range of training courses on more issues than we can support in our trainer led sessions.

Benefits of the service

Our self-directed learning service will provide users with credible experiences without the need for a significant training commitment that leads to a culture of learning and continuous improvement.

Resources

As well as developing our own content and courses we will work with a range of suppliers across the Scottish public sector and externally to help ensure our service reflects the needs of our teams and organisations.
