Applications Invited for Empowering Woman Spring Cohort 2022

Lee Dunn, Head of the Scottish Digital Academy

Applications are now open for the Spring cohorts for the Empowering Woman to Lead Digital Transformation and Empowering Woman to Lead Cyber Security Programmes. The Scottish Digital Academy is once more supporting places on each of these programmes, with applications invited to woman working across the public and third sectors in Scotland.

These are unique leadership programmes for women in digital transformation and cyber roles, delivered by Empowering You and in association with the Scottish Digital Academy, Scottish Government and ScotlandIS. The aim is to build a collaborative and powerful community of emerging women leaders in digital transformation and cyber across all industry sectors. A key element of each programme will be a team project designed to make a positive difference to the pace and success of digital transformation and cyber in Scotland, for both the economy and society.

The Spring cohorts run from March to June 2022. During the programme, participants will work individually and collaboratively to:

  • Accelerate leadership potential and embrace a ‘leader as learner’ mindset
  • Explore strategies to understand and engage more effectively with team members and stakeholders
  • Understand and develop your own personal and authentic leadership skills
  • Identify and respond to challenges within the team and organisation
  • Leverage the combined expertise of peers to progress individual and collective growth
  • Collaborate to deliver a team challenge project for the women in digital community

These programme are delivered in a face-to-face (subject to Covid guidelines) and experiential format, with group activities and action learning sets. Two professional leadership facilitators are used throughout our workshops to make sure we maintain high levels of personal engagement and diverse perspectives.

Each participant will be encouraged to identify an organisation workplace sponsor who will support them during the programme. The primary role of the sponsor will be to act as a sounding board for thoughts and ideas and to help ensure the participant feels supported and energised. In many cases the role of workplace sponsor falls naturally to the participant’s manager, however this also presents an opportunity to connect and gain mentor support from an executive or senior colleague.

This is a free but selective programme. Participants will be selected by a panel based on applications received and to achieve a diverse industry representation. Nominations will be invited from senior leaders for one of their employees and each applicant will be required to complete an application form for consideration.
