The Scottish Digital Academy supports professional learning across the public and third sectors in Scotland. Our focus remains on developing digital skills, leadership and talent. We are delighted to announce our commitment to working with The Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO), the national membership organisation for the voluntary sector.

We recognise the value in digital leadership and culture and the need to adapt leadership styles at all job levels, championing change and building a culture of empowerment. Developing a skilled digital workforce across the voluntary sector will drive professional learning and training, equipping people with the skills they need to thrive in a digital world, ensuring that organisations are planning for the digital roles and services that they need now and in the future.

It’s our mission to work collaboratively with all our stakeholders to secure sustained improvement in building and enhancing digital skills. We will do this by working in partnership with SCVO by creating opportunities to:

  • develop knowledge, understanding and digital skills
  • collaborate within strong professional communities
  • develop digital leadership capability

SCVO is helping people and organisations in Scotland to develop their digital potential through a range of courses from essential digital skills to a Senior Leaders Programme, which enables participants to share insights, while illustrating how they can help their organisation navigate disruption, overcome problems and continue to innovate and accelerate.

“SCVO have been providing tailored digital training for the voluntary sector for a number of years, and we have supported many hundreds of organisations in the past 12 months alone. Demand for digital skills and training is higher than ever. So we’re delighted to work with the Scottish Digital Academy to expand the range of courses and support open to the voluntary sector.”

John Fitzgerald, Digital Evolution Manager, SCVO

Those working in the voluntary sector are able to access the courses and services offered by the Scottish Digital Academy. By working together, we are better able to ensure that the right opportunities are offered at the right time to the right people. We seek to avoid duplication and to maximise public value.

“Our ambition, shared with SCVO is that all those in digital, data and technology (DDaT) roles as well as those in other professions across the voluntary sector are provided with access to high quality professional learning and training opportunities.”
